Lyn as they explore a series of films including such titles as Embracing the Leper, When Did I See You Hungry?, and The Narrow Path ...Walking Towards Peace and Nonviolence. Movies will be viewed each Sunday during Lent at 5pm beginning February 10th. Check the Announcement section for weekly details.

Where Love Is

Where Love Is tells the inspirational story of the Capuchin Soup Kitchen which has been faithfully serving the poor of Detroit since 1929. A simple friar named Solanus Casey inspired the kitchen and all those who work there. The kitchen provides not only three meals a day but also works towards long-term systemic change and social justice through education, drug rehab, an urban farm, and an art center for children. Join Fr. Rob and Mo. Lyn for two uplifting evenings, tonight and next Sunday February 17.

The Narrow Path

Feb 24 and March 2 - The Narrow Path is the video story of Father John Dear S.J. a celebrated peace activist and author of over 20 books. He has been arrested and imprisoned over 75 times, crisscrossing the country and the world tirelessly preaching the message of the nonviolent Jesus. This film will disturb many people but then the Gospel is disturbing if you take it seriously.

Embracing the Leper

March 9 - Embracing the Leper is a video about the organization Amazon Relief which ministers to the poor and those stricken with leprosy living in the port city of Manaus, Brazil. It is the story of Jim Flickinger who gave up a successful law practice in Grand Rapids, Michigan to do this work. When it comes to relieving the suffering of the poor, Jim's philosophy is simple. He says: "I can't do everything, but I will do everything I can."

When Did I See You Hungry?

March 16 - This film is a photographic mediation on the plight of the poor and our responsibility to help. The film features more than 250 powerful and poignant photographs of the impoverished in 29 cities in 9 nations of the world including Canada and the United States. They allow us to see more closely things we know about but are not attentive to. The photos capture not just the agony of life in the slums, but reveal the hidden humanity of the poor, their spirit of joy and will to survive.
