Footwashing

Maundy Thursday - April 21

7:30 pm   Agape*, Foot Washing & Communion

*The Agape feast has been celebrated since the days of the early church. The earliest reference is found in 1 Corinthians. It is also mentioned in Jude and 2 Peter. It is generally a meatless meal in an austere setting with simple foods, such as cheese, olives, dried fruit, bread and wine.

Burial Icon

Good Friday - April 22

12 - 3pm   Good Friday Observance

7:30 pm   Good Friday Observance

Part of this service will be the veneration of the burial icon of Jesus. Writing in the seventh century, St. John of Damascus stated: "No created thing can be adored in place of the Creator. We do not worship icons, for worship belongs to God along, but we venerate or show honor to them." During the veneration of the burial icon of Jesus we pray and show honor to Jesus for the gift of his death on the cross. In addition, during this service we will hear the stories and reflections of some of the people who were present at the crucifixion including Pilate's wife, the bride of Cana, the Centurion, and Jairus' daughter.
