 Thanksgiving for the life of

Bob Spaulding

We give thanks for the life of Bob Spaulding who went to be with the Lord this past Friday.

Bob and Leona

Bob was 96 and sharp as a tack right up to the day he left this world. Last Thursday he told Leona, "Leona. I'm tired. I'm ready to go be with the Lord." The next day he did!

What a wonderful man of God! Kind, thoughtful, bright, and with a wry sense of humor. He and Leona had been married 64 years. At least half of those years were spent together at Emmanuel. Bob was a pillar of the church in so many ways. Supportive, generous, prayerful, and with a heart as big as all outdoors.

We will miss him and pray that he may go from glory to glory in God's kingdom. Please keep Leona and their family in your prayers.

His memorial service will be Saturday, November 3, at 3pm at Emmanuel. There will be a reception in Edwards Hall following the service.

Rest eternal, grant your servant Robert, O Lord, and may light perpetual shine upon him.

 A Wonderful Installation

for Fr. Toro

Last Sunday afternoon, a number of Emmanuelites headed over to the Church of the Holy Communion in Gardena for the installation of Fr. Arthur Toro as Vicar. What a wonderful celebration of his ministry and the ministry of the people of Holy Communion.

There was a processional dance with Fr. Toro's family, lively call and response chants in several African languages,

music by Amazing Grace, The Church of the Holy Communion Choir, and Emmanuel Singers,

Emmanuel Choir

preaching by Bishop Diane Jardine Bruce, special presentations, letter of institution, and the Holy Eucharist, which led Fr. Toro to say, "I am a happy man!"
