| Dear , |
summer has arrived and vacations are in full swing, Emmanuel remains a
busy place. Preschool teachers are getting ready for their summer
program, the Brownies are having a special gathering, there are meetings
daily as varied as Smokers Anonymous and Native American Ministries,
and of course our office is staffed by wonderful volunteers from 9 am to
1 pm Monday through Friday (and also Kathy Palmer our bookkeeper on
Thursdays and Fridays). Drop in anytime and say hi. We'd love to see
Our Woodworker in Residence
may or may not be aware that we have a talented woodworker in
residence. Dave Nicholson is the primary person responsible for the
absolutely gorgeous wooden altar rails that replaced our dated wrought
iron ones. Now Dave has noticed that after its many decades of use, our
baptismal font is showing its age. So Dave is now sanding and
refinishing it, readying it for our next baptism. The font at Emmanuel
is quite unique, in that it serves as the base for our altar. The
symbolism of that is powerful. It says that baptism is at the heart of
every Eucharist we celebrate! Thank you Dave for your faithful ministry
and for sharing your gifts with us.
