 Dear   ,

It is often hard to say goodbyes. Fortunately for us, in the body of Christ, our goodbyes are really "til we meet again"! This week we say our temporary farewells to Leona Spaulding and Archie Slach. What loving and faithful members of Emmanuel! May they go from glory to glory in God's kingdom.

With much love,
Fr. Rob and Mo. Lyn

Thanksgiving for the life of Archie Slach and Leona Spaulding

Archie and Liz

What a faithful, kind, and devoted man. We give thanks for Archie and all the humor, honor, and humble service he gave to Liz, to God, and to the friends and family he loved so much. Please keep Liz in your prayers as she mourns the loss of her beloved Archie. Liz and Archie faithfully attended the 8:15 service for many years until ongoing health challenges kept them housebound. Mo Lyn and I, as well as several members of the congregation would visit, bring communion, send cards and give care calls. Thank you God for the life of Archie!

There will be a memorial service for Archie this Saturday (September 27) at 10 am at Memorial Park and Mortuary, 455 W. Central, in Brea. The family has requested that in lieu of flower donations be made to Emmanuel.

Bob and Leona
We also give thanks for the life of Leona Spaulding. Bob and Leona were pillars of the life of Emmanuel for decades, serving in every conceivable capacity. They moved to the Solvang area a number of years ago to be near family. Leona had a wonderful sense of wise and dry humor. She was often fond of saying, "Jesus said that his yoke was easy and his burden was light. So if it's not easy and it's not light then it's not the yoke of Jesus!" I know that Leona is overwhelmingly grateful to be united with Bob. May you both go from glory to glory in God's kingdom!
