Emmanuel Family News
October 22, 2015
 Dear
 ,
And God has a dream - a dream that we will realize that we are members of one family. That's the one lesson God is hoping we will learn, and it takes millennia for us to learn. We are fam-i-ly. Not as a figure of speech but as the most real thing about us. That we're members one with another. In this family there are no outsiders. All are insiders.     Desmond Tutu.

In the next week and a half we will celebrate the marriage of Howard Minkley and Jane Shellhouse and celebrate the life of Dan Kent. These are family events because as Desmond Tutu reminds us, we are fam-i-ly. Everyone in the Emmanuel family is invited to attend both of these services. Please come and join us as we celebrate Howard and Jane's new life together, and Dan's beautiful life on earth and his glorious new life in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Trunk or Treat

This year we are having the first annual Emmanuel Trunk or Treat event! What is Trunk or Treat you ask? Well, it is also known as Halloween tailgating and it solves the dilemma many parents have of finding a safe place for their children to go trick or treating. In Trunk or Treating, volunteer church members host a decorated car trunk and hand out treats for the children who come by. These hosts will park their cars (trunk side out) in a designated area in the Emmanuel parking lot. Hosts may dress up in Halloween costumes. The event will be held Saturday October 31st from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm. The fun will include a bounce house and carnival games from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm followed by trunk or treating from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Be a volunteer and decorate the trunk of your car, or just come and watch the fun. It is sure to be an evening to remember.

Movie Night

When it's movie night, at Emmanuel, watcha gonna see?  'Ghostbusters', of course!  Join us this Friday, October 23 at 6:30PM, for a spook-tacular evening!  Watch Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis do tongue-in-cheek battle with the supernatural, in order to save Sigourney Weaver, New York City and the world!  The 1984 hit comedy deftly walks a fine line--taking it all seriously enough to be scary, then poking fun at it in the most creative ways possible.   As always, admission and refreshments are free, and the company is superb!
