So good to be back with you again! I give thanks for a great vacation, deliverance from Hurricane Matthew, and for the wonderful work that Mo Lyn and y'all accomplished during my absence. I am one fortunate and blessed priest!

With gratitude for you,
Fr. Rob

Just Keep Coming Our Way
[Garden News from Lorra Dickinson]

Bella Cirrito helps Gordon with de-stemming the grapes.

Last Wednesday morning Gordon received a call from the store in Riverside where he rented the grape de-stemmer. They wanted to sell the de-stemmer we had rented. Gordon had to tell them, no we were not interested, it was just more than we could afford. In the afternoon we received a call from Nancy Kent. She wanted to do something to remember the 1st anniversary of Dan's passing on October 11.

She was wondering if there was anything that we wanted or needed for the garden. Dan loved the garden (he and Nancy were among our early, early supporters), he also loved wine and the fact that we had our own vineyard. As I am talking with Nancy about my suggestions, Gordon walks into the room and suddenly became very excited. He shared with Nancy about the available de-stemmer but told her that it was probably too expensive. After giving Nancy the price she agreed to donate half of the amount. (You should have seen Gordon jumping up and down with joyful anticipation.) Gordon picked the de-stemmer up and we will have it on display at church on Sunday.

We discussed putting a plaque on the front of the de-stemmer in memory of Dan with love from Nancy, the Dickinson's, and any other friend that wants to contribute to the purchase of this important piece of equipment for the vineyard.

We love you Dan.

    • Poinsettias - It is time to place Poinsettia orders for the holiday season. The plants will again be beautiful and come from Armstrong Nursery. They are available in 6" and 8" in red only. We have to pay for the plants in advance so we thank you for paying in advance - bring your check book. This is also an opportunity to purchase plants for use in decorating the church for Christmas.

    • Plant Sales - Our Plant Sales have been so successful that Charley and I are running out of containers. If you have old nursery pots and would like to donate them to the garden they would be very welcome. We can use anything but the 6 pack type. You can bring them on Sunday or just leave them on the Garden Hut deck.

Howard Be Thy Name
We give thanks for our new Junior Warden, Howard Minkley, and all the wonderful work that he has been doing sprucing up the place. If you see something with a fresh coat of paint, it probably is the work of Howard!
