 Dear Gene

We're just basking in the afterglow of Emmanuel events. Both the Silent Retreat and the special 5th Sunday celebration were awesome. Thanksgiving for all the beautiful ways that you make Emmanuel what it is.

With love in Jesus,
Fr. Rob and Mo. Lyn

Thanksgiving for the Wondrous Birthday BBQ Blessing

Choir at Fr. Paul's 80th BdayWhat a beautiful time we had last Sunday celebrating Fr. Paul's 80th birthday. A special thanks to all who helped, which includes the Youth Group, Emmanuel Choir, George &the Galley Girls, and a host of others who contributed time and energy for setup, liturgy, cooking and cleanup. (And a hearty congratulations to Mary McCarthy who won the Mac & Cheese contest!)

Here is a thanksgiving email I received from Fr. Paul:

Thank you and Emmanuel so much for such a wonderful Birthday celebration.

It was a one of a kind event.

Anita and I both enjoyed every moment of it.

Thanks to George and all those who worked on it.

Most of the times there are one or two little things

that did not happen or went wrong or could have

But not this time.

It was truly Holy Spirit directed from the start.

Please send our thanks to the parish.

Fr Paul and Anita.

Confirmation Coming!

ConfirmationThis coming Sunday, May 6th, Meg Suich and Sirena Ortiz will be confirmed and Joanie Schmid will be received by Bishop Mary Glasspool at the 10am service.

These wonderful individuals have been attending classes and preparing for this significant event in their life for some time. They will be proclaiming their decision to follow Jesus as Lord and Savior and receiving the strengthening power of the Holy Spirit through the laying on of hands by the Bishop. Come and renew your own commitment to Christ and experience the pouring out of the Holy Spirit in worship!

Thanksgiving for the Life of

Karol Eustis

Karol Eustis

Karol was a teacher, layreader and long-time member of Emmanuel. She loved children and was an advocate for those who had disabilities. She died this past Saturday after a lengthy illness, through which she was still seeking to grow spiritually and to deepen her relationship with Christ.

May she go from glory to glory in God's kingdom!

A memorial service for Karol will be held at Emmanuel near her June birthday. Details to follow.

May her soul, and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen

Clean & Green Day

Clean out your file cabinets, drawers and closets and bring all the extra junk down to the Emmanuel Parking lot on May 12! We will have Good Will of Orange County securely shredding your old documents from 10 am until noon. We ask a freewill donation to help cover our cost. The paper will be recycled!

Or might want to have a space at our church wide rummage sale?!  We ask a $10 donation for this as it will help us cover advertising costs. Bring your own cash box. If you don't want to have your own space you can donate to the preschool space.  The rummage sale is from eight am to noon.  Call Nancy Shively to participate. 714-738-1541. Otherwise you can just "shop till you drop" among the treasures available!  One man's trash is another man's treasure!

From eleven o'clock to noon we will have some fun "green" activities in the children's garden!  So get in the green spirit and reduce, reuse and recycle!
