 Dear   ,
Thank you for being you! We are so grateful for each of you and the beautiful ways in which you share yourselves--interests, gifts, and resources--with the community of Emmanuel. We were reminded of that recently when Mother Cindy Voien preached and celebrated on Sunday. A special thanks to all of you who supported Cindy and the worship during that time. You are a treasured people!

With love in Christ,
Fr. Rob & Mo. Lyn

Fr. Rob's Sabbatical

Since we have a little break in the Blurb activity, I thought I would use a little space to share how I'll be taking some space. You probably saw this in the recent Emmanuel Newsletter, but just in case you didn't, here it is:

Dear Beloved Ones,

Last month I spoke about the importance of sabbatical time, as a way of refreshing our souls, and preparing the way for further adventures in Christ. After I sent the article to Suzanne, I realized that I hadn't taken a sabbatical in 8 years. Since the Diocese strongly urges clergy to take a sabbatical every 7 years, I thought I'd better get on the ball and practice what I preach!

My previous times away had been more "working" sabbaticals where I produced albums, or accomplished other ministry related projects. It was great to have relatively uninterrupted time to produce significant projects, but I usually came back exhausted! This time I plan to do something radical: actually use the time to read, meditate, and pray.

I will take my usual vacation time in August and then in September and October I will spend time at various retreat centers and conferences for renewal. I am hoping that it will be of great benefit not only for myself, but also for you as I bring back stories and discoveries from the land of unfolding spirituality.

I ask for your prayers as I embark on this new adventure and you will, of course, continue to remain in my heart and prayers.

With gratitude for you,

Fr. Rob

P.S. Mo Lyn is even more overdue for a sabbatical than I, but she felt like she needed more time to plan, so I jumped in first, while she gets ready for hers. Please keep her in your prayers as she "holds down the fort" while I am gone, and also prayers as she prepares for a sabbatical next summer.
