We thank God for the many blessings of this week...successful surgery for Fred Collin, a wonderful 80th birthday celebration for Anita Edwards and 20th birthday celebration for Megan Ortiz, and Michael Wagner's continuing recovery from his 10 hour surgery.

We also hold in our hearts and prayers Howard Minkley and his family at the violent death of his son Tim. May they all be held in the arms of God as they go through this very difficult time.

In Christ's love,

Mo. Lyn+

We Had a Wonderful Time!

Last Sunday night a great time was had by all as we celebrated Anita Edward's 80th birthday. Her son George went to pick her up and told her she was being treated to dinner at The Summit House. She said something seemed a "little fishy" when he turned in at Emmanuel to pick up something. We were all there behind closed doors to surprise her and serenade her with a rousing Emmanuel rendition of Happy Birthday. As shy as she is, she thoroughly enjoyed the room full of people and all the hugs and conversations. The entire Edward's clan did a wonderful job of decorating and preparing a sumptuous meal. It was wonderful to see all three boys, their spouses and children enjoying this great family time together. We were blessed to be invited to be a part of it. We thank God for Anita's life and ministry and look forward to many more years to come!!!

The Baton is Passed.

Fred Collin
Fred Collin enjoying life!!!

How can we ever thank Fred Collin enough for the wonderful job he has done as our Jr Warden these past years? But it is time for Fred to pass the baton on to someone else. Tuesday he had shoulder replacement surgery done and soon he and Cheri will be moving up north to be closer to family. And so reluctantly we have accepted his resignation.

However God is good. Terry Lomheim has agreed to step into Fred's very large shoes and take over the position of Junior Warden. You may notice a change of style. Terry is going to be gathering a list of "specialists" from among our parishioners and will call on them according to what needs to be done. So his job will be the coordinator of specialists. If you have a specialty area, be it electrical, plumbing, painting, fix-it, concrete, gardening, etc. etc. etc. please let Terry know and he will add you to the list. That way no one person will get burned out. Sounds like a great plan to me. Thank you Terry for being willing to say yes! We are so blessed.

Our new Junior Warden Terry Lomheim

Coming For a Visit

While I am off in Wrightwood on the Women's Retreat this Sunday, The Rev. Barrett Van Buren will be here to fill in for our Sunday services. Barrett was sponsored for the priesthood by Emmanuel and is now serving as Associate priest at St John's La Verne, my home parish. Please give him a warm Emmanuel welcome!
