  • Helping the Homeless.
Update: We will meet in the parish hall at noon on Sunday, May 15 to help Isabella with her project. Please bring some donations from the items on her list and we'll have fun packing and preparing. Here is a reminder of her vision:
Hello, my name is Isabella Cirrito and I am a Girl Scout. I have been a Girl Scout since I was 5 years of old. Right now I am a Cadette and I would like to obtain my Silver Award. A Silver Award is the highest award a Cadette can get if they educate the community. For my Silver Award I want to educate the community of the growing homeless epidemic. To do that I need your help by donating and packaging care packages for the homeless. The donations I need are: toothbrushes, toothpaste, lotion, sunblock, wipes, hand sanitizer (NO ALCOHOL), $15-$20 food gift card (I will make sure the restaurant does not serve any alcoholic beverages), blankets, socks, jackets, sweaters, ponchos. To donate items, please bring them to Emmanual Episcopal Church. To donate  money for the food gift cards, please go to my Go Fund Me Page Have a H.E.A.R.T.
  • An Emmanuel Current Affairs Event
Screening of the HBO documentary film, "Requiem for the Dead:  American Spring 2014"
Thursday, April 21, 2016, SHACK room, 7 pm
Access to the movie is being provided by Gary Scott.   Amy Kremer will moderate the discussion.
This documentary movie presents footage from Facebook, Twitter and other social media, 911 calls and police file material, to put a human face on some of the estimated 8,000 individuals who died as a result of gun violence in America from March - June 2014.  After the movie, those who attend will have an opportunity for discussion.  Whatever your viewpoint on this part of American life, this movie provides context for what we might do to reduce gun violence deaths in the United States.
A note of caution:  This film contains content and crime-scene images that some - especially survivors of gun violence - may find disturbing. It should not be viewed by children under the age of 14 without adult supervision.

  • April Friday Night at the Movies
Up for a grand adventure on an epic scale? Join us in the Shack on Friday, April 22 at 6:30PM, for the exhilarating quest of "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade"! Thundering through three continents, Spielberg and Lucas' witty and laconic "Last Crusade" is a joyous succession of adrenaline-shot action cliffhangers, perfectly timed humor and spitfire romantic chemistry, all underpinned by a brilliant musical score. More significantly, it is also a moving and reverent exploration of faith and belief. This time, Indy is battling Nazis to find the Holy Grail and his missing dad-an archeology professor who's found the Grail's location. Harrison Ford returns as the charismatically prickly Indy, and the venerable Sir Sean Connery stars as his antagonistic but loving father. Perfectly modulated work by Ford and Connery deliver not only plenty of laughs but a credible father-son drama which takes the emotionally-stunted pair to a profound destination at the end of a heroes' journey. As always, admission and refreshments are free, and the company is stellar!
