Lenten Series: Tales from the Madhouse
Tales from the Gladhouse
This week: Nancy Kent

Is it row boat or sail boat spirituality that gets us where we want to go? Come discuss this compare and contrast as we hear from Barabbas and Nancy Kent!

We will first listen to Barabbas in the Madhouse as he describes his attempt to change the world, and then hear from Nancy as she tells stories of how God changed her world! Afterwards, we will have a chance to share our own reflections and life experiences as we ponder the paradox of making a difference that truly matters.

Come on out to explore what makes for effective change and have a discussion about what really matters. Thursday night at 7:30pm in the SHACK room.

for the Life of Judy Gibbs

Judy departed this life last Friday night, after being surrounded by family and friends, encircled with songs of praise and worship. Judy had been having increasing physical problems, but her spirit and love continued strong. May she go from glory to glory in God's kingdom!

Judy was a long time member of Emmanuel, involved in so many areas of leadership including Altar Guild Director, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd catechist, Vestry member, Preschool Board participant, and a beloved, faithful member of the Tuesday Morning Prayer Group.

A huge part of her life was dedicated to children--both in education and at Emmanuel. Here is an excerpt from the Woodcrest Elementary School tribute: "She was a believer in students' needs above all else, and was an incredible support to all staff. Her leadership, friendship, and love had profound effects on everyone she worked with. The tree in front of the office is dedicated to Judy and her extraordinary impact on our community. She will be greatly missed."

Amen. Amen. Amen.

There will be a memorial service at Emmanuel for Judy on Saturday, March 25 at 4pm. Afterwards we will have a reception in  the garden. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers donations be given to Emmanuel in memory of Judy Gibbs. These gifts will be used for a tribute to her in the children's garden.

May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
