Lenten Series: Tales from the Madhouse
Tales from the Gladhouse
This week: Kelli Edwards

What helps a person to truly treasure the life they have been given? How can we make each day a life-giving event?

We will watch a video about the thief who hung on the cross with Jesus, and hear the choices and options he considered. [Spoiler alert: This is the only  Madhouse tale that has a more promising ending!]

Then Kelli Edwards will share some of her adventures and the understanding that God has given her which has enabled her to live a life of fulfillment and joy--even in the midst of challenges and uncertainty. Kelli has had some amazing God moments in her life and some were even captured in a Guideposts story. You won't want to miss this last installment of the Madhouse and Gladhouse!

All are welcome, Thursday night at 7:30pm in the SHACK room.

Holy Week Services
Holy Week

Holy Week is such a profound time in the life of a Christian. From the Hosannas of Palm Sunday, through the cross of Good Friday, to the resurrection joy of Easter, when we walk with Jesus we discover the secret of this season: the way of the cross is the way to LIFE!

Come join us for this transformative journey.

Maundy Thursday  will be observed on Thursday, April 13 . "Maundy" comes from the Latin word "mandate"  for the new mandate or command Jesus gave us to "love one another as I have loved you".The Maundy Thursday service will begin at 7:30pm where we will join with Jesus and the disciples in footwashing, prayer, and communion. This year we are focusing on prayer during the footwashing time. You can pray through the washing of feet or through private intercession. Pray for your family. Pray for the world. Pray for the church. It was during this night that Jesus asked us to "watch and pray". While we pray, classically trained Sarah Yim and her son will be offering quiet instrumental music on piano and cello.

Good Friday services will be held on Friday, April 14 at 12-3pm and then later at 7:30pm. The services will be the Stations of the Cross, where the clergy will reflect on each part of Jesus' journey to the cross. After each group of three reflections there will be an opportunity to participate in the stations in a way that will be healing and empowering.

Easter Vigil is a time of devotion anticipating the dawn of the resurrection and acknowledging the light of Christ which is able to overcome any darkness. This service will be held at 7:30pm on Saturday, April 15. During this service we will have a procession of the pascal candle, a candlelight reflection on the promises of scripture, baptisms, celebration of the resurrection of Jesus, and communion. One of the most beautiful services of the church year! [ Special note: This year two of the Oates grandsons as well as Kat and Christopher's daughter Alice will be baptized.]

Easter Services will be held at our usual Sunday times of 8:15am and 10am on April 16. Both services will have choir and communion. Bring your bells for the gloria (an ancient tradition), flowers for the cross, and eggs for the hunt (a dozen plastic eggs with non-melting goodies would be great!) After the service we will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt on the front lawn for the kids.

Together we will deepen our devotion to Christ and make room for the Holy Spirit to empower our lives for service as we remember the way of the cross and the power of the resurrection!
