This Sunday we continue with the sermon series that Fr. Rob and I started several months ago. We have been covering the principles by which we live as community, to help us all in choosing someone who will be a good fit to be Emmanuel's next rector. This week we cover the principle of appreciative inquiry (focusing on what is good in our midst). So come and find out what that is all about. It is important in your understanding of who we are and what is important to us. And it is a wonderful way to live our lives out in the world!

With much love,
Mo. Lyn

Save the Date!!!

Please mark your calendars now
. Oct. 1st, 2017 will be Fr. Rob's last Sunday with us. We are planning a wonderful celebration of his ministry/retirement party. More information to come. Get Ready for the Country Faire Picnic!

Wear your shorts to church and bring your folding chairs, lawn games and something to eat to share. It is going to be a blast! And don't forget to bring an entry for the brownie tasting contest. We have some cool prizes!
Come to Movie Night

Guess what--animated movies aren't just for kids!  Join us for Emmanuel Movie Night on Friday, July 28 at 6:30PM, for the Oscar-winning (Best Animated Movie) "Up" and you'll see what we mean. The heartwarming adventures of an old man and a young boy, a flying house tethered to countless balloons, a long-lost (and mad) explorer, a giant bird called Kevin and assorted 'talking' dogs gets funnier and more exciting as it goes along. Featuring stunning visuals, a moving story and the voices of Ed Asner and Christopher Plummer, 'Up' is a summer delight!  As always, admission and refreshments are free, and the company is stellar.

Country Faire Picnic - July 30th

Patty McDaneld is busy putting together another of our wonderful Emmanuel Annualish Picnics. It will be held on July 30th after a single service at 9:00 am. Patty needs lots of help if it is to be the success it has always been. She needs people to help with both adult and children's games, organizing decorations, coordinating the brownie cook-off, setting up and taking down, and a variety of other things. If everyone helps a little bit no one will be overwhelmed and everyone will have fun! Contact Patty at or on her cell

Story Day is Coming - Saturday August 12th
We all have stories about Emmanuel - how we found Emmanuel, why we stayed, unforgettable Emmanuel moments . . . you know - stories about the things that make Emmanuel the truly unique parish that it is.
The first step in the process of calling a new priest for Emmanuel is for us to get together and share all those stories with each other and your Profile Committee so that we can weave them into our Parish Profile.  That Profile will become the "ad" that will draw our next rector to us.  Our Profile needs to communicate the essence of who we are, and the qualities we're looking for in our new Rector.
Please plan on joining us for Story Day - the beginning of Emmanuel's journey to the future.  More details will be announced soon.

Walking together on this journey...
Would you like to get more involved?
I would like to invite any of you that are interested to become a Lay Eucharist Minister.  In this ministry, we need Lay Readers and Chalice bearers for the Sunday services. What a blessing it has been for me to read scripture and share the blood of Christ, by being a chalice bearer.
I would also like to invite any of you that are interested to become a Lay Eucharist Visitor.  In the last year, I have been blessed to be with many that are unable to attend church (due to being shut in or ill), by sitting with them, sharing stories and most of all sharing Eucharist.
Many times I go thinking I may not know what to say or do with the person I am visiting, but the Holy Spirit always arrives just at the right moment.  I leave each time thinking what a blessing to sit, listen and be with those that can't attend church with us.  It's an intimate time, a gift, a double blessing for each person, them and me.
If you are interested in finding out more information or being a LEM or a LEV, please contact me:, 714-446-9670. Mother Lyn will be leading a class on Saturday September 16, 2017 from 9:00am-12:00noon
Thank you, Jen Wagner

Two of our parishioners have art work displayed in the Orange County Fair.
