Bishop Diane's sermon reminded us all never to attempt to do ministry without prayer. We need the power of the Holy Spirit to accomplish anything in God's name. After her sermon she baptized Kiara Marquez (See the pictures below). This was followed by a beautiful and very joyous Eucharist. Our closing song was Dazzling Bouquet which we all enjoyed singing with gusto. Bishop Diane loved the chorus "Mine is the church where everybody's welcome. I know it's true cuz I got through the door!" We had a scrumptious coffee hour. There were so many people on the patio I had a hard time getting from the church into Havermale Hall! My kingdom for a cup of coffee!!!

Following the coffee hour, the vestry had a very enjoyable lunch with Bishop Diane, her chaplain Bill Kelly and his wife. Thank you God for a beautiful day!

With much love,

Mo. Lyn+

We Are Burying Hallelujah this Sunday!

Each year right before Ash Wednesday we bury a sign in the garden outside Mo. Lyn's office, bearing the word Hallelujah. This act is symbolic of the fact that during Lent, we omit the word Hallelujah from our worship. Thus we remind ourselves that we are entering a more solemn season of the church year which is spent in introspection and penitence. We will bury Hallelujah at the end of the 10:00 am service this coming Sunday, February 11th.  So come  and join us as we sing our last Hallelujahs until Easter!

Celebration of Life

The memorial service for Yvonne Conklin will be held here at Emmanuel on Saturday February 17th at 10:00 am followed by a reception. Everyone is invited to come and give thanks for her life and her ministry!

I am so sad to inform you that Joanie Schmid died late Tuesday. Her memorial service will be held at Emmanuel on Sunday February 18th at 4:00 pm. Her family wanted to be sure that the entire Emmanuel community was invited to come and celebrate her life. Emmanuel meant so much to Joanie. She was always so grateful that Al had brought her here and introduced her to us!!! Please keep her family, her caregiver Eva, and of course dear Al Perry in your thoughts and prayers as they grieve for her.
