You Need to Meet Her!

During my sermon this week, I related the story of being stranded at church last Sunday long after everyone had left, when my car wouldn't start. There were no repair shops open on Sunday and so I had to leave my car in the Emmanuel lot and wait until the next day to get it towed. I  considered spending the night sleeping on the love seat in my office rather than ask anyone for help. The Holy Spirit tapped me on the shoulder and said "Ahem, you need to give in and ask." A group of folks from Emmanuel were at lunch at a local restaurant when I finally called one of them. Dan Cash showed up to pick me up. I explained how sorry I was to interrupt his afternoon and how hard it was for me to ask for a ride home (which is 24 miles away). Dan's response? "Well you need to get over that." He drove me to the restaurant where the group had already ordered me lunch. Then one of them drove me home and another picked me up the next morning and brought me back to work. The gospel for last Sunday reminded us to live the life of a servant. But the flip side of that, is that when we need help we need to give others the opportunity to live out that calling.

We Are Starting Tai Chi Classes in the Garden!

A little about the instructor:

One day in the spring of 2017 Ed Chu was seen wandering around our garden (he lives in our neighborhood). Since then he has joined our Wine Guild, participated in numerous vineyard work days and has a garden plot where he is currently growing corn. We are delighted that Ed has graciously agreed to offer Tai Chi classes for us in the garden under the pergola.

Ed was born in 1949 in Taiwan. He was trained as an engineer and worked in the oil industry until retirement. He has been an avid Tai Chi practitioner for 40 years and has been teaching for 30 years.

Ed's Tai Chi study came from a long lineage of distinguished Tai Chi teachers traceable to the roots of the great grand master Yang Cheng-fu. He began his studies of the Yang style of Tai Chi in the late 1970s with Master Wu in Toronto, Canada. He started teaching 10 years later in Calgary, Canada. He has also taught in Corpus Christi, Texas, Rome, Italy. and Fullerton including the Fullerton Chinese School as well as the Fullerton YMCA,

We are delighted and blessed to have him as neighbor, garden supporter, and now as our Tai Chi teacher
