Happy birthday Doris!

There are so many things I love about Emmanuel but one that I love the most is being a part of the ongoing stories of the amazing people God has brought to this community. This week we celebrate Doris Knape's 88th birthday. (See the photo of the week) She and her husband Warren were here when I got here 24 years ago. Warren and Doris are quiet saints of God. They have offered a home and a refuge to innumerable young people and adults who found themselves homeless and a bit lost. Warren would always put them to work around the house, and Doris would feed them. Together they counseled them back into life. Their love has always been unconditional.

And who can forget Doris' contribution to the art at Emmanuel? There are the woven banners that we enjoy every Advent,  and the amazing silk print of the head of Christ that often adorns the aumbry during Good Friday services. At 91 Warren is in charge of the Prayer Letter and both participate in a variety of events at Emmanuel and are in church every Sunday as well as Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I am so grateful to have had them in my life, and for the example they have given of a beautiful servant ministry. Happy birthday Doris. We love you.

In gratitude,

Mo. Lyn+

A Part of You Will Always Be Here at Emmanuel!
Be Creative with your brick.

The wonderful thing about these bricks is that you can be creative with them. There are lots of logos to choose from and many ways that you can express gratitude for a person or for your time here at Emmanuel. Buying a brick is a guarantee that a part of you will be here at Emmanuel for generations to come.
