This week I am feeling ever so grateful for the huge group of Emmanuelites who love and labor in our community garden and vineyard. The garden continues to be a source of fresh ideas for ministry. The latest edition is the Tai Chi classes that are taking place each Tuesday and Thursday at 8:30 am under the garden pergola. In addition, there are the monthly plant sales coordinated by Charley Julien, the wide variety of vegetables and flowers being grown in our garden plots, the neighbors who come by to visit, and of course the making and bottling of our own Back Forty brand wine. I am so grateful for the initial and ongoing inspiration of Lorra and Gordon Dickinson. And this month I had the delight to work with Charley and Karen Julien in creating a new succulent and rock garden outside the front office door. (See the pictures below). That garden has been looking a little sad lately! But with the help of the Juliens, it has been transformed! Charley put in an extra sprinkler to help keep our new plants alive, and dug and planted, while Karen, with her artistic eye, plotted out the garden and helped with the planting. Thank you to these two who have such a love for growing things. The gifts of God come in all shapes and sizes!!!

In gratitude,

Mo. Lyn+

Updated Info for Pastathon!

There was an oops! in the phone number info last week and we've added a mailing address for sending contributions. (See below)

Thom's car packed with tomato sauce  (above)
and pasta (below) for Pastathon last year.

For the last four years, Thom Babcock (an early service attendee) and his granddaughter Allyssa have sought donations for Caterina's Club, which feeds more than 3500 motel children a hot meal every weekday in more than 19 cities throughout Southern California. Last year Thom and Allyssa raised $300 in cash and checks in addition to almost 2700 pounds (that's almost a ton and a half!) of pasta and sauce and were amazed at the generosity of all those who helped them surpass their goal of 2500 pounds. Keep in mind that each pound of pasta feeds 7 kids!!! This year their goal is 3,000 pounds of pasta and sauce. Anything you would like to contribute would be greatly appreciated. Pasta and sauce are their main objective but checks and cash can be used to purchase those items as the pasta and sauce is purchased wholesale. Here is how much buying power there is in $100:

$10 = 17 pounds
$20 = 34 pounds
$50 = 85 pounds
$100 = 90 pounds of spaghetti and 80 pounds of sauce

Total cash needed to reach the 3,000 pound goal is $1800. Any amount will help them towards their goal.

If you have items that need to be picked up call  714-272-7646.
