This week I am still aglow with gratitude for our Diocesan Convention held last Friday and Saturday at Ontario Convention Center. I am so proud to be a part of the Diocese of Los Angeles with all of its diversity. Along with some traditional music during worship, we also heard music by our black and Hispanic brothers and sisters during Morning Prayer, Prayers for Noontime and Evening Prayer. Readings at Eucharist were in English, Spanish, Chinese and Swahili. Ohhh it was good!!! We heard about all of the efforts that go on in the diocese to ease the suffering of those who are hungry, homeless, and are immigrants in a new land, often refugees from frightening places in other parts of the world. We heard about many other ministries throughout the diocese including our diocesan seminary in Claremont. We voted on the budget for the coming year and welcomed St James the Great Church in Newport Beach as our newest mission congregation. Here is a picture of your Convention delegates hard at work on the Convention floor. Recognize anyone? There is Ted Jones our Senior Warden, Ronnie Moore and Lynda Bronzellino, all from the 8:15 am service and Kathy Eppick from the 10:00 am service. Oh and then there is your Rector Emeritus, Fr. Rob Bethancourt. It was so good to spend some time with him. He hasn't changed a bit. Thank goodness!

And here are your delegates at play during dinner on Friday night. They are a wonderful group of people and I am so thankful for their commitment to the church. It was a rewarding two days!

In gratitude,

Mo. Lyn+

Las Posadas This Sunday!

Join us this Sunday at 6:00 pm for Las Posadas as we reenact Mary and Joseph's search for a place to stay. We travel by candlelight to five different "inns" on the church campus singing all along the way. At the fifth stop there is finally room at the inn and we are invited in for a tamale feast and pinata. Come join five of your brothers and sisters as they "ham" it up as innkeepers and then enjoy the generosity of the Ortiz family who provide the wonderful feast with the help of side dishes from the Emmanuel community. You do not want to miss this! It isn't Christmas for me without Las Posadas!

We Received a Gift!

Our neighbor Marvin, who used to live across the street, and has now moved to a brand new house down the street, has gifted us with a 10 foot pre-lit Christmas tree. It is his old tree and as you can see it won't fit into the new house, which has lower ceilings. So thank you Marvin for the beautiful tree!

Ready For Some Good News?

Thom Babcock invited us to take part in Caterina's Club Pastathon again this year. It is a program sponsored by the Anaheim White House Restaurant and feeds a hot meal to thousands of children who live in area motels. Thom's goal was to collect funds to provide 3,000 pounds of pasta and sauce. With a week to go, Thom has surpassed his goal by 700 pounds! And we were a part of that! By Thom's calculations the donations he received will feed 20,000 meals to local motel children. Congratulations Thom! We are so proud of you, and so blessed to be a part of such a wonderful ministry. And we love your big heart!
