A long-time Anglican tradition is an event called the greening of the church. Since the Episcopal Church honors the season of Advent we wait to decorate the church for Christmas until the week between the 4th Sunday of Advent and Christmas Day. This year the greening will be held Thursday, Dec 22nd at 6 pm.
On that day, Debi Andreff, our florist in residence, provides us with everything we need, greens, flowers, poinsettia plants, etc. etc. to decorate the sanctuary. This is the time when we set up the Christmas tree, and the nativity set as well. This is all done to the sound of Christmas carols and lots of laughter. Afterwards we adjourn to Havermale Hall for a pot luck soup supper. Come join the fun and be amazed at how beautiful our sanctuary looks when we are done!
